With each album I do as Verdris Moth, I always try to find a new way to stretch the sound of Verdris and a new aesthetic to explore with it, whilst still sounding like Verdris. So this album is quite a different deal from most of the rest of my output under Verdris - it's much less acoustic, ambient, and orchestral, and instead more influenced by funk, RnB, and electronica. There are little bits of 90s pop, Latin jazz, neo-prog, vaporwave, and chiptune in there too.
I've mostly drawn on my experiences as a music student for this one, as well as my experiences of cities and tertiary education in general. For the most part, it's really about my memories, some fond and some not so much, of the weird musical world I was floating around in during my time as a Berklee student (particularly on Science Labyrinth), but there's also allusions to loneliness in a huge unfamiliar city (Jet Black Coat), the rougher, sex/drugs/alcohol aspects of young adulthood (Funforeverland), environmental debates and their effect on the city's evolution (Xylopolis), moments of peace and safety having escaped from it all for a while (Roofsurfing), and the excitement and hope that came with all the travelling and exploring around that time (Through The Acrylic).
